Galway 10th September 2014
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Big Bad Wolf, at the request of trainer, Philip M. Byrne, and reported the animal to be lame post race.
248E Ryans Cleaning S'chaseS.E. Butler, rider of Pride Of The Artic trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up lame.
The Stewards requested a report from Henry de Bromhead, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Loosen My Load, winner, as compared with its recent most recent run at Killarney on the 23rd August, where he finished 13th of 14, beaten 57 lengths.
The trainer reported that his charge is a horse that doesn't like being crowded and from the start in Killarney, he failed to get daylight at his fences, and as a result he never jumped or travelled. The smaller field today suited and allowed him plenty of daylight at his fences and this may have brought about any apparent improvement in form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
