The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Mr Shankly, trained by John James Feane, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.
M.A. Enright, rider of Mr Shankly, trained by John James Feane, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled throughout this race and made a respiratory noise in running before being pulled up.
023C Martinstown Opportunity H'cap S'chaseA. Ring, rider of Glenanelucy trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel in running.
023D Sean Graham Bookmakers M'dn H'dleD.J. Condon, rider of Champione, trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on the ground.
023E Bet With The Tote H'cap H'dleThe Stewards received a report from William Fleming , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that S.W. Flanagan , rider of Degenerous , weighed in at 2.2 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had lost some weight to ride at 10 stone but felt dehydrated after weighing out and consequently had a drink of water. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that rider S.W. Flanagan was in breach of Rule 231 and they therefore suspended him for 2 racedays having taken his previous record into consideration.
