022A St. Patrick's Punter Pack H'cap S'chase

The Stewards requested a report from C.A.McBratney, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Topper Thornton, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that this horse was carried wide at one stage and never really travelled last time at Thurles. He felt today's improvement may be down to a combination of the horse liking today's track and the race was possibly not a great one. Having considered the report the Stewards noted its contents.

022D Sean Graham Bookmakers M'dn H'dle

The Stewards interviewed Mr A.H. Wells, rider, in relation to his apparent failure to pull up having bypassed the last hurdle. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he believed those behind him would pull up and he only realised they hadn't as he cantered home. In hindsight he admitted he should have taken a turn after bypassing the last and apologised for continuing on. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned the rider regarding his responsibilities under Rule 215.

Owing to ground conditions, the Stewards granted permission for the fifth fence to be omitted from all steeplechases today.
